Over the top or straight through? The Gotthard Pass is always worth a trip. The drive over the pass shortly after Whitsun is particularly impressive, as there are often still metre-high walls of snow to be seen. The journey through the world's longest base tunnel is particularly fast. In 2020, the NEAT was completed with the inauguration of the Ceneri Base Tunnel and now makes Ticino even easier to reach.
