What has made Ticino famous for being the sunny side of Switzerland? The mild climate. The alpine mountain chain to the north of Ticino traps the cold air and allows the Mediterranean climate to circulate the area. The warm season starts earlier and always lasts a little longer on Lake Lugano (also known as Lake Ceresio) and on Lake Verbano.
